Holy Week Functions
As in previous years, the Very Reverend Monsignor Paul Vella, Conventual Chaplain Grand Cross ad honorem and Rector of St John’s Co-Cathedral invited the Association to attend the various liturgical functions taking place during Holy Week.
Dr Michael Grech, President of the Council was joined by his Council together with members of the Association, Aspirants and Volunteers .
His Grace, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Malta, Mgr Charles Jude Scicluna celebrated Holy Mass on Palm Sunday together with other members of the Collegiate Chapter after blessing of the Palms and Olive branches.
On Maundy Thursday, commemorating the Last Super and the Sacrament of Orders, the Archbishop celebrated Holy Mass, after which he transported the Blessed Sacrament from the main altar to the Altar of Reposition. Four members of the Association were honoured to be asked to carry the baldacchino.
On Easter Sunday, after the celebration of Holy Mass, His Grace the Archbishop imparted on all those present in the Co-Cathedral as well as on those following the ceremony on social media, the blessing: “ Urbi et Orbi”.
