The Flemish Tapestries at St John’s Co-Cathedral

The members of the Maltese Association were invited by their confrère, The Very Reverend Monsignor Paul Vella, Rector of St John’s Co-Cathedral, to a guided tour of the Flemish tapestries that are presently on display at the co-cathedral.
.

The Flemish tapestries had been commissioned by Grand Master Ramon Perellós as his gift or gioia, to the Order’s Conventual church when he was elected Grand Master.
The lengthy restoration process which took around 15 years, has been completed and the tapestries are now hanging in their intended place, in the nave of St John’s Co-Cathedral, till later this month, for the public to visit and enjoy.
.

Mgr. Vella gave a very interesting talk explaining various historical facts about the artifacts in the cathedral.
This event was very well attended by members and their families.
