Resumption of Prison Ministry
The Association’s Prison Ministry was very happily resumed today, coinciding with the first day of summer, with a number of Members forming part of the Prison Ministry Group visiting foreign male inmates at the Corradino Correctional Facility.
Perhaps very few would say, on re-entering the prison gates, that “it’s good to be back !” but, as was reported by the Hospitaller, that was certainly the sentiment shared by those visiting today.
Female inmates will be visited next week.
There will henceforth be weekly visits, alternating between the male and female inmates.
Prison Ministry, which forms an important project of the Association, had been interrupted by the onset of COVID-19, and it then took some time and considerable effort, following a reschuffle within the Prison Administration, to finally reach agreement to re-start from where we left off.
The Association is most grateful to Ms. Mariella Camilleri, Head of Social Services, Welfare and Development of Prisoners, and to her team comprising Ms. Christine Camilleri, Social Worker Senior and Ms. Charlene Delia who is functioning as Visits Coordinator and welcomed our Members on arrival, accompanying them throughout the visit.
