Feast of Blessed Gerard
The 13th of October is an important date in the calendar of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. It is the day when members, aspirants, and volunteers all over the world celebrate the feast of the Founder of the Order, the Blessed Gerard.
The President of the Maltese Association, Dr Michael Grech, led a full congregation of members and aspirants to the church of Saint Ursula, in Valletta where mass was celebrated by Monsignor Fr Brendan Gatt, Principal Chaplain and other members of the clergy. During the sermon, Mons Gatt urged those present to pray for the canonization of Blessed Gerard, as he explained the significance such event would mean in the spiritual life of those belonging to the Order.
The lessons were read by Arthur Galea Salamone while the bidding prayers were read by Daniel B Camilleri.
The nuns of St Ursula participated in the Mass.
At then end of Mass, Dr Grech presented to the Mother Suprrior replica of the skull of Brother Gerard, similar to the actual one in the custody of the same Order.
