Feast of Blessed Gerard

Holy Mass was celebrated to commemorate the feast of Blessed Gerard – the founder of our Order – by Fr Savio Vella SDB, Conventual Chaplain, at the monastery of the cloistered sisters of St Ursula in Valletta, where the skull of Bl. Gerard is preserved.

Members, volunteers and guests together with the Nuns filled the church to celebrate this feast which is so dear to the Maltese Association.

Frederick Midsud Bonnici read the first and second reading, the Hospitaller, Dr Kevin Dingli read the bidding prayers and the President of the Maltese Association, HE Daniel de Petri Testaferrata read the Prayer of the Order at the end of the Mass.

The new hymn of Blessed Gerard in Maltese, composed by Mro. Mark Agius was sung for the first time by the Jerosolimitan Nuns of the Order, today.

In the sacristy after mass, the President thanked the Mother Superior for hosting this annual event and presented her with the Maltese Association’s yearly donation in support of the monastery.
