Demise of Fra Jean-Louis Mainguy

Fra Jean-Louis Mainguy, 71, resident Knight of the Order of Malta at Fort St Angelo, returned to the house of the father, late in the evening of the 14 August.
Born in Beirut in 1953, he became a member of the Order in 2007 and was the only Knight in Solemn Vows in the Order from the Middle East. The Order described him as “a dedicated Professed Knight, a true professional in his work, a devout Christian, and above all, a remarkable human being”.
He was an architect by profession, curated various exhibitions and oversaw the restoration and refurbishment of the Magistral Palace, as well as the revitalization of the Crypt at Fort St Angelo. He had been living in Fort St. Angelo since 2023. He was also a council member of the Maltese Association while residing in Malta.
