Lourdes Preparatory Meeting

April 23 2026 

 

The final preparations for the 68th Pilgrimage to Lourdes are in hand, with this year seeing the largest contingent leaving Malta on the 30th April, consisting of 364 persons to include Our Lords the Sick, members, of the Maltese Association, volunteers, pilgrims and cadets. The flights have been provided by KM Airlines.

 

A preparatory meeting was held on the 23rd of April at St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral in Valletta with the kind permission of the Reverend Canon David Wright, who welcomed the many persons attendingt the meeting.

 

Daniel de Petri Testaferrta, the Pilgrimage Director, addressed the meeting, going in detail with respect to the program at Lourdes, the obligations assigned to various volunteers, especially those who will be caring for Our Lords the Sick. Several questions were answered.

 

Dr Michael Grech, President of the Maltese Association, thanked all those attending the meeting and augured much success for this pilgrimage which is the main annual highlight in the calendar of the Association.

 

Dame Helene Zammit, Vice President of the Association and Dame Karen Miller, the Hospitaller, are Deputy Pilgrimage Directors.

 

Mass followed at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, celebrated by the Reverend

Archpriest Canon David Gauci, assisted by the Reverend Monsignor Victor Zammit McKeon and Reverend Dr Jean Gove, who, with other chaplains and members of the Order, will be present in Lourdes.
