Advent Spiritual Retreat

December 7 2024

A day of recollection, held every year before the Christmas Festivities, was this year held at St Ursula’s Church in Valletta. A fitting venue considering the close link there is between the Order and the Nuns.

The Conventual Nuns very kindly greeted the many members and volunteers of the Order with coffees, teas and their traditional home-made biscuits.

The theme for the day’s reflection was ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, chosen by the Principal Chaplain of the Association, Mgr Brendan Gatt, who also led the Introductory Prayers.

.

The first reflection was given by Fr Gordon Refalo, Parish Priest of Gzira, who put emphasis on Hope as a guiding light in our lives.  Time was then allocated for personal reflection and confession, following which Fr Gordon celebrated holy mass at 11.00 am.

In the afternoon, Fr Antoine Borg, in his reflections, showed through the lives of various Saints, that we should model our own lives on the three S es, namely Sacrifice, Suffering and Smile for us to lead our lives in peace with God.

The President of the Maltese Association, Dr Michael Grech, at the end of proceedings, thanked the Reverend Fathers, both members of the Order, for their participation in the Retreat and also thanked the members of the Council present, and all those who attended this event.
