Covid-19 Medal Awards
To express gratitude to those who provide assistance in an emergency situation and to give a tangible sign of the special contribution made by members and volunteers in specific campaigns, the Sovereign Council established the ‘Sovereign Order of Malta Campaign Medal’, which complements the Order pro Merito Melitensi.
Pursuant to a recommendation by the Maltese Association Council and a decree by the Sovereign Council, the COVID-19 Campaign Commemorative Medal was awarded to a group of people in recognition for their active participation to assist Our Lords the Poor and the Sick during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The awards ceremony was held on Friday 3 June during the First Friday Mass, which was celebrated by Fr. Paul Vella at Our Lady Of Victory Church in Valletta at 18:00hrs. Fr Brendan Gatt concelebrated.
The medal must only be worn on military ceremonial uniforms and the ribbon on service uniforms, after the insignia of the Sovereign Order of Malta and other Merito Melitense decorations.
The mass was followed by light refreshments at Casa Lanfreducci.
