Ta’ Pinu Pilgrims’ Assistance
As in previous years, the Order of Malta continues with its Pilgrims’ Service at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu during the Wednesday Devotions to Our Lady.
The members of our voluntary group in Gozo wait at the outside parameters of the large shrine with wheelchairs to help the infirm pilgrims visiting the shrine. Many sick and elderly would not have been able to visit, were it not for this service provided by the Order of Malta.
The Wednesday Marian Devotions start every year on the first Wednesday of May (exactly after the Order of Malta International Lourdes Pilgrimage) and end on the Eve of the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady celebrated in August, when a large influx of pilgrims visit this shrine. A room is also available under the large square of the shrine where infirm pilgrims crossing from Malta can also rest for a few hours if needed.
