Holy Week Religious Celebrations

At the invitation of the Ecclesiastical Master of Ceremonies, the Very Reverend Monsignor `Paul Vella, also Rector of St John’s Co-Cathedral – the former Conventual Church of the Order of Malta – the Confreres and Consoeurs forming the Maltese Association, attended the celebrations taking place at St John’s during the Holy Week.

Led by the President, Dr Michael Grech, and the Council, many members attended the services on Palm Sunday, and Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday. On Maundy Thursday, for the first time ever, members of the Association were tasked with the carrying of ‘baldacchino’ covering the Blessed Sacrament as it was transported to the Altar of Reposition.

These celebrations were led by His Grace Monsignor Charles Jude Scicluna, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Malta.

The splendor and glory of St John’s Co-Cathedral provided a fitting background to these ceremonies enhanced by the music and voices of the resident Choir.
