Gozo Youth Camp 4-6 October 2024
A Celebration of Joy, Unity, and Unforgettable Moments
The Gozo Youth Camp, organised under the auspices of M.A.S.M.O.M., was a weekend like no other—filled with laughter, friendship, and a profound sense of community. Held at Lourdes Home, Ghajnsielem, Gozo, the camp truly showcased what can be achieved when hearts and minds come together with a shared purpose.
This year’s camp brought together 11 guests with varying disabilities and 16 enthusiastic helpers, all committed to making the experience as inclusive, supportive, and joyful as possible. The spirit of the camp was present in every moment, with helpers going above and beyond to ensure that each guest felt valued, included, and able to participate fully in every activity. It was a true display of compassion, teamwork, and genuine care.

The weekend was packed with meaningful activities and memorable highlights that made it truly special. It all kicked off on Friday night with an outdoor cinema under the stars, where we gathered as a community to enjoy a movie together and set the tone for the days to come. After the movie, we came together around a warm campfire, roasting marshmallows and singing songs, creating a magical atmosphere filled with laughter and togetherness.

Saturday began with sports games in the morning, filling the air with energy, laughter, and a great sense of camaraderie. In the afternoon, our guests were treated to an impressive display by the Order of Malta Canine Search and Rescue Team, showcasing the skills and dedication of these amazing dogs and their handlers. The excitement continued with a vintage car ride around the scenic island of Gozo, giving our guests the thrill of exploring in true style.

The day concluded with a traditional majjalata in the evening, where everyone came together to enjoy a delicious feast and celebrate in great spirits.

Sunday was a day of reflection and fun, beginning with a beautiful Mass that brought everyone together in a moment of spiritual unity, prayer, and gratitude. This was followed by some lively water games, where the guests and helpers alike embraced the playful spirit of the camp, ending the weekend with smiles, splashes, and a lot of laughter.
Beyond the activities, this camp was also a deeply spiritual experience. There were moments set aside for prayer, reflection, andthe sharing of hope. It was a time for everyone to come together, not just in fun and fellowship, but also in a spirit of unity and faith, embracing the values that lie at the heart of M.A.S.M.O.M.’s mission.
