International World Day of the Sick

The Maltese Association marked the International Day of the Sick at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary at San Pawl tat-Targa on the 17th February 2024, since the original date of the 11th February this year clashed with the Carnival.
This was the first time that the event was held at this sanctuary, which is of more modern vintage and provides total wheel chair accessibility throughout.
Proceedings commenced with the recital of the Joyful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, following which Holy Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Michael Agius, a chaplain of the Association, who extended a very warm welcome to the sizeable contingent of malades, members and volunteers who participated and augured that this becomes an annual occurrence at the sanctuary. The Rev. Fr. Savio Vella, another chaplain of the Association, concelebrated.

After the liturgical thanksgiving, the special guests were escorted down to the sanctuary’s copious reception hall at basement level, where they were offered a volley of light refreshments by the members and volunteers in attendance, all decked out in the Association’s distinctive red tabards of service.

The Chancellor Dr. Michael Grech and the Hospitaller Dr. Kevin F. Dingli participated in the event.

The very well attended event was once again superbly organised by Council Member Helene Zammit and her team.
