Admissions, Promotions and Awards Ceremony
The event was held at St John’s co-Cathedral, in Valletta at 18:30hrs, starting with a procession from the sacristy to the main altar, where the Chancellor, Dr Michael Grech, read the brevet issued by the Grand Master. After the blessing of the insignia, the presentation of the awards and promotions took place.
Holy Mass was celebrated by the Order’s Principal Chaplain, the Very Rev. Mgr Brendan Gatt, assisted by Mgr Paul Vella, Pro-Rector at St John’s Co-Cathedral, Mgr Victor Zammit McKeon and Rev. Dr Stefan Attard.
At the end of the sermon, the Veni Creator Spiritus was sung, and this was was followed by the investitures.
The President, Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata, assisted by the Chancellor, presided over the investiture ceremony. The mass resumed as usual after the investitures.
Fra’ Francis J. Vassallo and Fra’ Jean-Louis Mainguy were also present.
The cathedral was packed with family members and guests of the investees and awardees, who thoroughly enjoyed the traditional ceremony, of the Order’s Investitures.
The Lieutenant of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, Roberto Buontempo, and H.E. Dr Michael Frendo, Chairman of The Malta Council of the Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem, were invited and attended the ceremony.
