Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving – Nativity of Our Lady
Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving to commemorate the Victory of the Great Siege of 1565 and the Nativity of Our Lady, was celebrated Wednesday 8th September at 8.30 am by Mgr. Lawrence Gatt, at St John’s co-cathedral in Valletta.
Members, volunteers and guests attended this religious celebration.
The painting below shows the view of St John’s Conventual church of the Order, with the 8 September procession, commemorating the Victory over the Turks of 1565 and the Nativity of Our Lady, with whose intercession the Great Siege was lifted on this her feast day.

At the back of the procession is Grand Master Lascaris Castellar (1636-1657). To his left is the page holding the sword and poignard of Grand Master de Vallette, which were seen in public only during these ceremonies.
