ROOFTOP BARBEQUE AT ALBERTO MARVELLI RESIDENCE
August 17 2021
The young men at the Alberto Marvelli Residence, under the direction of their Home Coordinator Mr. Dario Debono, organised a barbeque on the rooftop of the premises in Paola on Tuesday 17th August 2021 to which the members of the Management Committee responsible for the running of the Residence were invited.
Advantage was taken of the fact that COVID-19 cases are now under control, as well as of the fact that the number of attendees was limited and all concerned were fully vaccinated.
The location afforded a most welcome light but fresh breeze, as well as the beautiful backdrop of the Christ the King Parish Church, to say nothing of the sunset.
The residents spared no effort in ensuring that a most delicious and bountiful three course fare was lovingly prepared and served to their special guests.
The Alberto Marvelli Residence is an ongoing project run by the Maltese Association in partnership with the National Federation of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco and Dar Osanna Pia, offering independent accomodation to young homeless persons in conjunction with a mentoring programme. The Residence was officially opened by His Grace Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna on the 25th January 2020. The Order of Malta’s Fund for Forgotten People, the Maltese Association itself as well as the Volunteers of the Order had all contributed towards part financing of the capital costs incurred in redeveloping and refurbishing the former dilapidated building.
The Maltese Association is represented on the Management Committee by the Hospitaller Dr. Kevin F. Dingli as well as by Knight of Magistral Grace in Obedience Mr. Dennis Kirkop, both of whom were in attendance at the event, as were the President of the National Federation of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco Mr. Bryan and Mr. Stefan Farrugia.
The Hospitaller thanked the residents for their most kind gesture of appreciation, which served as living testimony of the fruits being reaped by the mentoring programme which forms an essential part of this Project.
