Christmas Eve Mass and President’s Promotion

Members of the Maltese Association, volunteers and their families lead by the President, Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata, marked Christmas Eve at the historical Fort St. Angelo, thanks to the very kind permission of Fra’ John Critien who also attended the event.
This is a venue which is pregnant in meaning and significance for the entire Order of Malta.

Holy Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Savio Vella at the beautiful St. Anne’s Chapel, where he delivered a most fitting homily. Council Members Karen Miller and Helene Zammit read the Prayers. Dr. Kevin F. Dingli and Mr. Paul Sultana performed a number of Christmas carols on guitar, with the entire congregation providing the chorus.

After mass, by decree of H.M.E.H. the Prince and Grand Master Fra’ Giacomo della Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto and the Sovereign Council, Fra’ John E. Critien bestowed the insignia of Knight Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion in Obedience on our President, H.E. The Noble Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata.

Following Holy Mass, attendees were treated to warm mulled wine and to a reception which was held at the Palace, where those present exchanged Christmas greetings and extended their heartfelt congratulations to our President for this great honour, of which he is most deserving.

Whilst this is something of a challenging venue in terms of logistics, an electric car service was available for the occasion, providing transport for those wishing to avoid the steep climb to the Fort.
