MALTESE ASSOCIATION 6TH ORCHESTRAL CHARITY CONCERT AT ST JOHN’S CO-CATHEDRAL
The Orchestral Charity Concert has become an annual event in the Maltese Association Calendar of Activities.
The Maltese Association held its sixth annual concert this year once again to mark the Feast Day of St John the Baptist, Patron Saint of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
The Charity Concert Committee once again engaged the services of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Prof. Michael Laus, with operatic Soprano Miriam Gauci and The Goldberg Ensemble choir, giving an excellent performance of works by Handel, Palestrina, Mozart, Haydn, Verdi, Arne and Franck.
Miriam Gauci gave an outstanding and brilliant recital as always. The beautifully chosen repertoire captivated the audience’s attention all through the evening, in the breathtaking majestic Co-Cathedral, it really was a dazzling soiree!
The Hon. Dr Joseph Muscat was represented by the Hon. Minister Owen Bonnici, who is the Minister, responsible for Justice, Culture and Local Government. After the concert, all the guests were entertained in the beautiful and quaint Pjazza Regina which took its name after a statue of Queen Victoria was installed in the square in the 19th century. The guests enjoyed the lovely after-reception where an array of delicious eats and sparkling prosecco were also served throughout the evening.
