Pontifical High Mass, Sunday 13 March, St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta

At the end the XXIV European Hospitallers’ Conference in Malta, Pontifical High Mass was presided by the Archbishop of Malta, HG Mgr Charles J. Scicluna, with HE Mgr Jean Lafitte, Prelate of the Order in the presence of HMEH Frà Matthew Festing, Prince and Grand Master of the Order of Malta.

The participants of the conference together with members of the Sovereign Council, the Maltese Association Council, and members and volunteers of the Maltese Association also took part in the Mass.

After Mass, Dr Philip Farrugia Randon, former President of the Maltese Association and one of the leading Caravaggio experts, gave a very interesting historical talk on Caravaggio in the Oratory, in front of Caravaggio’s masterpiece, The Beheading of St John.

Refreshments followed at St John’s Cavalier, the Order’s Embassy in Valletta, kindly hosted by HE Umberto di Capua, Ambassador of the Order to Malta.
