Demise of confrére Roger de Giorgio

Architect Roger de Giorgio, born in Milan on the 29th December 1922 and passed away on 5th February 2016.
Roger de Giorgio joined the Order in 1957 as a Donat of Devotion, and climbed the ranks all the way to Knight Grand Cross of Magistral Grace in Obedience with Sash: the Magistral Grace equivalent of a Bailiff.
He was a true gentleman at heart and in every sense, cultivating a vast sphere of interests, devoting his immeasurable energy to each one. He strove to achieve perfection in everything he did – nothing more so than his dedication to the Sovereign Order of Malta which he loved so dearly.
The Maltese Association is hugely indebted to him, as it was his vision that saw the acquisition and redevelopment of Casa Cassar into the Casa Lanfreducci headquarters we enjoy today – possibly the crowning achievement of a Presidency that spanned the fourteen years between January 1986 and July 2000.
Our Headquarters’ inauguration coincided perfectly with the historic ninth centenary celebrations which were organised in Malta in late 1998. His joy at celebrating this momentous event, surrounded by the entire Sovereign Council, a large selection of the Order’s worldwide leaders, and the members of our Association at the time is a memory that we shall cherish always. A measure of the Association’s gratitude was its bestowal of the singular honour of Honorary Life President upon him.
Our heartfelt condolences to his wife Marika, his children and grand-children, who will find consolation in the certainty that our late President Emeritus is already enjoying the Glory of the Risen Lord.
