Maltese Association Advent Retreat

This year’s Advent Retreat took place over one day and was held at St Joseph’s Convent in Rabat. For this occasion we were pleased to have The Rev. Fr Robert Grech as our preacher.
In Fr Robert’s own few words… a short synopsis of the Maltese Association Advent Retreat.
“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere” taken from Psalm 83 was the theme chosen for the retreat. This is a reminder for the day when our Lord appears in glory so that we will be with Him. This is the principal theme for Advent where we are invited to wait for Him not only in the celebration of the Incarnation but especially in His second coming.
This time is marked especially from the invitation where we are invited for conversion like Zacheus. We are invited to put aside all that is blocking God’s will from our life. Being close to God in prayers and acts of charity helping those in needs helps paving the way. This is because our last judgement will be based on love (St John of the Cross). This is the way to live that one day in the Lord’s house, day that never ends”
In between Fr Grech’s talks, confessions were heard. After lunch, the members once again met for the Stations of the Cross in the small chapel within the retreat house. The afternoon sermon by Fr Robert was followed by the recital of the Holy Rosary and Holy Mass, which brought a fulfilling day to a close.
Our heartiest thanks go to Maltese Association Vice President Anthony Miceli Demajo for all his unfailing efforts every year to coordinate and organise our spiritual retreats.
