The Infant Jesus of Prague – Protector of the unborn child
The Maltese Association together with the Consulate for the Czech Republic celebrated the Feast of the Infant Jesus of Prague. The liturgical celebrations were specially dedicated to the rights of the Unborn Child. This celebration is a public statement of the Maltese Association’s commitment to defending the helpless and the defenceless, with a particular focus on the defence of the rights of the unborn child. It is also intended to be a faithful reflection of the Christian values treasured by the Maltese people. A number of organisations that are active in this field were invited and participated in this special event.
The celebrations commenced at 6.30 p.m. with a procession where members of our Association carried the Statue. The Laudate Pueri choir under the capable direction of The Rev. Canon George Frendo accompanied the pilgrimage, singing hymns of praise throughout.
After walking down part of Merchant Street and back up Republic Street, the pilgrimage returned to Our Lady of Victory Church in Pjazza Jean de Valette. H.E. The Apostolic Nuncio Mgr Aldo Cavalli, who was the main celebrant, was assisted by the Maltese Association Principal Chaplain Mgr Lawrence Gatt and other members of the Reverend Clergy. The Laudate Pueri choir’s singing provided an impressive scene to the service.
At the end of High Mass, Vice-President, Comm. Anthony Miceli Demajo, read the Prayer of the Order and in a short address, thanked H.E. The Apostolic Nuncio for honouring us with his presence. After Mass, Mgr Aldo Cavalli led the celebration of benediction again accompanied by singing from the choir. After the church function, light refreshments were served at Casa Lanfreducci.
