Opening of the Order of Malta National Art Exhibition

October 23 2025

The Embassy of the Order of Malta, at Saint John Cavalier, is the venue of the Second National Art Exhibition organized by the Maltese Association of the Order of Malta.

The two main large rooms at the ground floor level of the Embassy are the perfect space to house an exhibition that include works by 194 artists working in the medium of paintings, stone, bronze, glass, ceramics, photographs, and mixed media.

Both well established artists and promising ones have accepted the invitation of the Association to come together and show their art, with all the money so raised going towards the charitable work done by the Order of Malta and its voluntary groups.

Comm Dr Paschal Demajo, member of the Council, was once again the driving force behind, the organisation of this exhibition, the preparation and organisation of which have involved months of intensive work. In all of this he was helped by Comm. Martin Micallef, also a member of Council, who took care of the online and printed catalogues. Dowager Marchioness Vivian Cassar de Sayn, together with Comm. Joseph d’Amato, ensured the proper placing of the exhibits, fixed to panels and with clever lighting bringing out the beauty of these works. The hard work and commitment of Dame Roberta Gabaretta, Mrs Fiona Captur, Baroncino Michael Trapani Galea Feriol, Major Raymond Miller, Dr Michael Ellul Sullivan and Perit Etienne Fenech, also members of the organising committee was acknowledged by Dr Demajo in his address.

The formal opening of the exhibition took place on the 23rd of October. Dr. Demajo had words of gratitude to the many artists who had accepted the invitation of the Order to participate in this activity as well as the number of volunteers who had helped in setting it up, and those who in the coming days will be assisting the visitors. He thanked HE Prince Augusto Ruffo di Calabria, Ambassador of the Order, for allowing the use of the Embassy as the venue of the exhibition. Monsignor Brendan Gatt, Principal Chaplain of the Association blessed the Exhibition.

The Exhibition is open from the 24 October to the 14 November, Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 6.00pm and Sundays 10.00am to 1.00pm.
