Canine Search and Rescue Team invite Maltese Association Council to a training session
Members of Council of the Maltese Association were invited by the Association’s Canine Search and Rescue Team to attend a training session which took place in the morning of Saturday 4th November at the White Rocks area of Pembroke.
In attendance were the President Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata, the Hospitaller Dr. Kevin Dingli together with his own dog Skipper and the Communications Officer Comm. Martin Micallef. They were accompanied by Michael Trapani Galea Feriol, who acts as the Association’s representative on the Canine SAR Team, together with his own dog Luna, as well as by the Association’s Executive Secretary Mrs. Donatienne Zammit.

During the exciting session, the attendees were able to witness at first hand the immense progress which has been registered by the various canine teams in their search, tracking and cadaver training.
The occasion served to allow Council Members to get to know the team and their dogs better, as well as to view the fresh new red uniforms sporting the highly regarded Order of Malta logo which were distributed to team members, literally fresh off the press.

At the end of the session, the President delivered a brief address of appreciation for the great efforts being made by the Canine SAR Team, and handed out a number of badges sporting the Order of Malta’s logo.
Another session is scheduled to be held on Saturday 18th November at the Xaqqa Cliffs in Siggiewi from 08:30 onwards, during which both the Canine and Rescue teams will be working together as they perform a high angle rescue simulation.

The Canine SAR Team is looking forward to getting accredited next February. This will be a significant milestone towards the attainment of its objectives.
