150th Anniversary Of The Founding Of The Societa’ Filarmonica Nazionale La Valette

The Maltese Association participated in the celebrations held on Friday 20th October 2023 to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Societa’ Filarmonica Nazionale La Valette, to which it extended its patronage some time ago.

The event also recalled the 455th anniversary of the death of Grand Master Jean de Valette.

Members gathered at Casa Landreducci for robing at 5.00 p.m., from where the delegation lead by the President Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata joined the band club in procession to St. John’s Co-Cathedral. A delegation then descended into the Grand Masters’ Crypt to lay a wreath on the tombstone of Grand Master de Valette.

The procession then proceeded to the Church of Our Lady of Victory, where a brief but uplifting violin and cello concert with soprano Rosabelle Bianchi took place, ending with the “Innu Malti”.

After de-robing at Casa Lanfreducci, the participants then proceeded to the Band Club’s premises on Republic Street for the opening of an exhibition by the President titled “Wirt Beltna, Wirt Pajjizna”.
