Summer BBQ for Poor Families

This 2014 summer, gave a start to a new summertime Maltese Association activity, whereby over 170 families with special needs… were invited to a BBQ where delicious food was served in abundance on a fresh and pleasant mid-summer evening. The ongoing entertainment triggered off a cheerful mood, inspiring our special guests to sing along some old time favourite songs with merry music provided by a DJ. The laughter and happy natters amongst the families kept running through all evening till it was time for these charming and appreciate individuals to return back to their homes. It was so gratifying and rewarding for us on the giving side, to see these lovely simple people manage to smile and forget their sufferings even albeit for a short while. Their infinite appreciation was a constant string of emphasised ‘thank yous’ coming through to us every five minutes. The evening was a great and wonderful success for one and all!
Our special heartfelt thanks go especially Mr Lino Cremona, General Manager of the Plaza Hotel who organized the music and took care of all the catering, to the Lija Parish Priest, Rev. Fr David Gauci, for making it possible for our guests to be entertained in the Lija Parish Hall and to all the Maltese Association members and volunteers who gave a precious helping hand – it was a special event where harmony, happiness, fun and laughter held hands and danced all throughout this splendid evening!
