Anglican Parish in Gozo supports Order of Malta relief work

January 24 2014

The English-speaking members of the Anglican community on the island of Gozo had also responded to the food collection appeal which the Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo had made two months ago.

For the past weeks the Anglican community led by Rev. Neil Robb and their welfare officer Ms Carole McLaren have passed the Gozo volunteers appeal to their congregation. The response was overwhelming as food supplies were provided so that the Order would distribute more aid to Gozitan families and refugees in need. This month, the English-speaking Anglican community in Gozo, which holds its service at the Catholic Seminary chapel in Victoria, has donated items including blankets and good-quality clothes to the Order’s corps every Wednesday after Service. The food donated also complimented the other twenty hampers which the Maltese Association also sent to Gozo with the kind assistance of our colleague Mr Joe D’ Amato. The Order in Gozo also received a large amount of stationary and toys from the Catenian Gozo Circle led by their President Dr Raymond C Xerri.

Currently, the Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo is helping a lot of families and refugees. A particular family which needs a lot of help is a Gozitan widow whose son is currently receiving treatment in Germany. The Gozo Volunteers are providing a ramp near their apartment for the boy’s wheelchair.
