Family Fun Day Out
Seventy families from around different parts of the Island were our guests today to a Family Fun Day which this year was held at the food retail outlets at the Malta International Airport.
Our guests started to arrive at around 10.15 a.m. and soon the food hall area allocated to us was a buzz of excitement as parents and children settled down in preparation for the day’s activities.
Very appropriately the day commenced with Holy Mass celebrated by Father Carmel Busuttil, in the airport Chapel. During the short sermon, Canon Busuttil emphasized how wonderful it is to be cared for and added that having people giving their time for others is an example of true love for each other. He continued to say we should place Jesus not only in the crib but more importantly in our hearts spreading affection through good deeds done for those around us, with special care to the underprivileged and dysfunctional families.
After Holy Mass the families were served coffee whilst a magician entertained our special guests to the max, by captivating their attention completely. He managed to enthral both children and parents alike with his perplexing array of magic tricks!
Soon it was time for lunch and this is when we saw the generosity of Malta International Airport come to the fore. Everyone was able to enjoy selecting a meal of their choice from different food outlets and soon queues formed and excitement, especially amongst the children, was beyond words, as they selected their favourite food. Extra helpings were given to those whose appetite was more than ravenous! The choice was devoured burgers after pizza and pasta after wraps.
Afternoon entertainment was in the form of face painting and Fr Christmas handing out assorted sweets in plentiful amounts down onto the tables to the delight of all the children !
Finally it was time for the families to leave. As our happy smiling guests left the airport we gave them a parting gift of a pannetone to every family.
Throughout the day, members, volunteers and M.I.A. staff kept the event moving smoothly. Special thanks go to M.I.A. Marketing Coordinator, Patricia Darmanin and the Food Hall staff, who bent over backwards to ensure that our guests were given a good time and VIP treatment. At the end of the day our members were able to retreat back to their homes exhausted but none the less happy at the conclusion of a very successful and most rewarding event.
