Film Night

January 15 2013

A film night was again organised by the Charity Events Committee to raise funds to help with the expenses incurred in holding the Children’s Party, the Children’s Film and the Family Fun Day over the Christmas and New Year period.

The event was supported by two hundred and thirty Association members and their friends, in addition to a number of donors.

The evening started with a cash bar service in the lobby followed by pasta, wine and coffee served at il-Harruba restaurant at the Intercontinental Hotel.

After supper, everyone moved on to the Eden Cinemas. Before showing the film, Association President Philip Farrugia Randon delivered a brief welcome address and then proceeded to draw the raffle prizes of a painting, free accommodation for a weekend in Sicily and a Braun hand mixer kindly donated by Mr Joseph Casapinta, Count Bugeja Fontani and another anonymous donor respectively. This was followed by a short powerpoint presentation about the Malta Association and the works being carried out by members and volunteers.

The choice of film was particularly poignant, as Victor Hugo’s epic novel focuses on the very values which the Order endeavours to uphold.

Once again the evening was a great success and the film night, now in its third successive year, has definitely become firmly established as one of the most sought after in the Association’s calendar of annual events.

The Committee would like to thank everybody, both helpers and sponsors, for their continued support.
