Mass for Our Lords the Sick at St George’s Basilica

On Thursday 9th July, a special Mass was held for Our Lords the Sick at St George’s Basilica. The Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo was invited to assist the elderly.

The Order of Malta tail-lift transport was needed to convey the patients from hospital and from St Domenic Home, while the volunteers assisted the guests on wheelchairs. The President and the Director of the Corps in Gozo were also present.

Mass in which the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick was administered, was celebrated by Fr Geoffrey G. Attard Spiritual Director of the Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo. During his homily, Fr Attard spoke about the Biblical roots of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick as mentioned in the Letter of St James the Apostle in the New Testament.

After the Mass, Our Lords the Sick were invited for a reception in the parish house near the Basilica.
