Yesterday St Joseph’s Feast, the Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo had a busy day doing hospitaller works in different places of the island.
In the morning, the elderly residents of St Dominic’s Home in Victoria, were taken out for a Pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of St Joseph in Qala. The elderly were conveyed in the Order of Malta ambulift vehicle while members from the Catholic Action also provided a light car to convey walking patients. Coffees and drinks were served outside after the elderly attended Mass in the church.
In the afternoon, another group of Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo, also visited the elderly at St Therese Home run by the Carmelites. The group led by the spiritual director Fr Geoffrey G Attard, also distributed oranges to the elderly who reside in the small nursing home which is a few meters away from the Knights’ Citadel. These visits to the elderly and house-bounds compliment the other works of charity including giving aid to the refugees and conveying patients to hospitals on a regular basis.
Currently the Order of Malta relief group on the island of Gozo, has made a public appeal to its well-wishers for furniture for three households who need furniture after separate cases of fire or roof-collapse.
