Presentation of Christmas Hampers
The President Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata, on behalf of the Maltese Association, formally presented the traditional Christmas Hampers containing foodstuffs and other essentials to representatives of various Church and Religious Organisations and Charitable Institutes, at a formal ceremony held at the Association’s headquarters at Casa Lanfreducci in Valletta this afternoon.
In a brief address, the President recalled the Order’s hospitaller origins in the Holy Land, which remains the Order’s mission up to this very day, and appealed for prayers to be recited for a successful conclusion of the canonisation process which is underway, which will hopefully lead to the Blessed Gerard, founder of the Order, being admitted to sainthood.
Light refreshments were then served to all in attendance, who were invited to participate in a little social gathering to mark the festive occasion.
More hampers will be delivered to other recipients in the coming days.
A total of 120 hampers were made available for distribution by the Association to no less than 26 organisations and institutes, as well as to a number of needy families.
The Maltese Association is extremely appreciative of the generosity of the various members and other donors who support this noble initiative, as well as to those who volunteered to pack and deliver the 120 hampers.
