Wheelchair transporter Vehicle Presentation in Gozo
August 13 2021
A generous Gozitan gentleman, Mr. Coronato Vella, has donated a Toyota Ractis Hatchback Disability Variant to the Maltese Association of the Order of Malta, for use by the Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo.
The vehicle, which has ample headroom and is equipped with an easily operable tail lift, can very safely and comfortably carry a wheelchair bound person, and will further bolster the much valued transport services which the Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo make available to wheelchair bound persons in Gozo.
A formal presentation ceremony was held on Friday 13th August 2021 in the gardens of Manresa Retreat House, where the vehicle was blessed by the Rev. Fr. Alex Refalo, a relative of the donor, who recited a most beautiful prayer specially dedicated for the blessing of a vehicle and all those who ride in it.
In attendance were the donor and various members of his family, as well as various members of the Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo lead by the President Mr. Giovann Pace and by the Director Mr. Chris Galea.
The Maltese Association was represented by the President Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata as well as by the Hospitaller Dr. Kevin F. Dingli.
In a brief speech of thanks, the President of the Association lauded the generosity of the donor and said that such gestures served to encourage the Association in the carrying out of its mission of assisting those who are mostly in need.
Light refreshments were then served to all present at a social event which followed in full respect of COVID-19 regulations.
